And guess what? They are all connected.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s a privilege.<\/span><\/p><p><strong>To spend my days creatively pursuing my passion of reaching moms all over the world to make them laugh, make them think, and make them feel seen is a dream come true.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But how does one get to this point?<\/span><span weren\u2019t career options presented to me back in my highschool careers class.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s go back to March 400;\">What the heck an influencer was<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to film a short form video<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/diaryofanhonestmom.com\/blog\/hey-mama-it-gets-easier\/\">other moms struggled to enjoy motherhood<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as much as me<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That other moms craved community and support as much as me<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That other <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/diaryofanhonestmom.com\/blog\/10-tips-for-recovering-from-postpartum-depression\/\">moms struggled with their mental health<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as much as me<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That other women didn\u2019t have fairytale relationships with the own mothers<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That you could make money from brand partnerships once you had a platform<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That my whole life would change in the span of 2 years<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f1533a4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"f1533a4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>A story:<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prior to the whole world shutting down in March 2020 I was an educational assistant and spent my days supporting the physical, academic, emotional and social needs of children who required special education assistance. It\u2019s a HARD JOB, albeit rewarding.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I was working in a grade 7 class when the kids started telling me about Tiktok. I told them that they were too young to be on Tiktok (I\u2019d never even logged in) and that the internet is a dangerous place for kids (it actually is). But I based my opinion on 0 knowledge of the platform.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So they were probably shocked to find me weeks later, fully addicted to the authentic and highly relatable and engaging content, posting daily and sharing increasingly raw and real portrayals of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/diaryofanhonestmom.com\/blog\/motherhood-is-hard-lets-make-it-easier\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how hard motherhood is <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and all my imperfections.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-24b4854 elementor-widget-divider--separator-type-pattern elementor-widget-divider--no-spacing elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"24b4854\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\" style=\"--divider-pattern-url: url(&quot;data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=&#039;http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg&#039; They shared their stories back with me. The highlight reel. The filters. The lack of transparency. The inauthenticity. The lack of seeing anyone remotely in my situation left me feeling like I was not enough.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I joined instagram as The Honest Mom only because there were rumours Tiktok would get shut down and I didn\u2019t want to lose my new found people.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Little did I know that only a year later I would find 200k more of them and that I would look forward to going there daily to share my life.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p><p dir=\"ltr\">But it\u2019s HARD to grow on Instagram. That\u2019s what I\u2019ve been told anyway.<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\">Here\u2019s what I think happened(because I\u2019m honest):<\/p><ul><li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\"><p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">I had 0 expectations which meant that I could create the most authentic content possible without being concerned about the algorithm or growth<\/p><\/li><li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\"><p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Instagram reels were newly released and short short videos were my jam<\/p><\/li><li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\"><p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">There had been a shift in what people wanted out of social media, they were ready for real life, deeper connections and authentic engagement<\/p><\/li><li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\"><p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">I had loads of old videos in my back pocket, which made it easy to post 3x a day<\/p><\/li><li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\"><p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>Most importantly? And often, it is shame triggering for moms. Moms were really craving authenticity and vulnerability which is what I was serving up.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve come to know and love many influencers. They work hard and they provide value. I put the feelings and experiences many moms have into words in a way that brings clarity and connection.
